April is a really big deal in Bucovina. The entire month is a celebration. Starting with the Florii, on the 1st of April all the way to the Enlighten Week, till 15.04, the steam train takes you all the way to the Bucovina’s most treasured Easter traditions.

We found out at the Travel Fair, last week-end, which are the must important things to do in Bucovina so, we came up with a list!

Top things „must do” in Bucovina on Easter times:

 

Painted Eggs Fair

The Fair is taking place in downtown Moldoviței on the 1st of April and on the 8th of April in Arbore.

The Resurrection Church Service

Go to any church or monastery in Bucovina, from Suceava to Gura Humorului. My favourite still remains Sucevița.

Watering the girls

In the 2nd day of Easter, in some villages around, the girls are traditionally „watered”  by the boys and the other way around, but on the 3rd day of Ester. By now, the watering part is mainly spraying perfume, unlike the old days, when a real bucket of water was involved.

Farmers’ Dance Fair

Food, cheering, drinks and fiesta time in all Bucovina land. In every village, in the 2nd week after Easter, people are celebrating at the Farmers Fairs.

And don’t let me hear you didn’t catch the train, because there you have the Mocănița Moldovița program until January 2019:

 

March:

Two departures per day, at: 10:00 & 14:00.

Prices are 30 lei for adults and 15 lei for kids, children smaller than 6 years may go for free if they are held, but if they need a seat, they also pay 15 lei.
